Aloha, I'm Akisha and I am a wife, therapist, iced coffee lover and your biggest cheerleader!
I have always considered myself a "people person", I love walking through life and being an encourager to those around me. After years of working with adolescents and their families in multiple different capacities I decided I wanted to have better tools to support them as more than just a mentor and friend. I wanted to support the family unit as a whole to build healthier and more connected families. Enter, becoming a Marriage and Family Therapist (MFT).
I grew up on Maui, went to college on the Mainland, met my husband and we moved back to the island to both be near our Ohana & use the tools I learned to serve our community here. It is truly my joy and honor to be included in YOUR life now as well. My heart is to create a place that is just as cozy and safe as it is life-changing.
My Approach
My therapeutic approach is attachment based and trauma informed. I have training in Emotionally Focused Therapy, Brainspotting and EMDR in order to support you and your family as best as possible. I value open communication as to what is working best for you. In my personal life, my faith and foundation in Jesus is essential to my own healing and I am open to discuss if you would like to have your own faith integrated into your own sessions as well. I believe we come alive when we feel seen and deeply known and I want to be apart of that journey with you. One of my favorite parts of therapy is helping you find direction, step into your most confident self as you process through your story, and confidently navigate your emotions to live fully and abundantly.
The therapy room can be a messy and challenging, raw and beautiful space and I look forward to working with you.
